At least this is how I fixed someone's pc with this problem. If you open a web browser and click on TOOLS -> INTERNET OPTIONS -> CONNECTIONS -> LAN SETTINGS, make sure that Automatically Detect Settings is checked. Close the browser then start again. If this doesn't work then reboot the pc and then open a web browser. This will not fix the other problems that exist with this nasty virus but it should get you back online.
