Security Tool Description:

Security Tool (alias SecurityTool) is a new clone of System Security 2009 and Total Security 2009 rogue anti-spyware tools. Security Tool compromises computer systems by applying dirty backdoor techniques with the involvement of trojan viruses. Once Security Tool trespasses on your PC without permission, it makes some system configuration changes so that its executable will be run at startup. Having deployed that component of its renegade mission, Security Tool starts to annoy the user with the great (and growing) number of its pop-ups that signify the alleged exposure of security risks and other malware issues on the compromised computer. Going even further fulfillment of its plan, Security Tool also uses the heavy artillery, i.e. its fake system scanners that actually present absolutely no informative value because Security Tool has no information retrieval ways from your hard drive as to what’s installed on it. Yet, Security Tool scanners report a variety of digital parasites that must be attended to before it’s too late. If the unsuspecting victim gets busted napping, he/she might follow the further prompts of Security Tool and install its registered software which demands payment first. Please, do not get trapped by Security Tool tricks, remove this rogue anti-spyware application once it shows up in your cyber neighborhood or else it will supercede your actions and attack first, and more aggressively than from the start. Allow us to provide some useful removal tips. Considering the fact that Security Tool usually makes your removal endeavors almost impossible (it blocks antivirus programs downloads, hijacks your desktop etc.), you may find it very hard to delete it. There is a real good method to trick this rogueware, though. Go ahead and try the following. Open up My Computer, go to your Local Disk (that’s ‘C’ drive mostly), double click Documents and Settings and choose All Users folder. When inside ‘All Users’ directory, go to Tools option at the top. Select Folder Options and click on the View tab. There, you should tick Show hidden files and folders and untick Hide protected Operating System files option. Now that you have done this, you will be able to see Security Tool’s folder inside Application Data directory. It’s usually the very first one shown, it has 8 random digits as its name. Double-click that folder, now you should see Security Tool executable – it looks approximately like this 45612378.exe. You need to rename this process to whatever you like (e.g.’456abc78.exe). Save the changes and restart your computer. After this reboot, Security Tool will be knocked down for a short while; additionally, you should now see its icon on your desktop. Don’t waste your time and download our removal tool below. Launch the remover and let it identify and exterminate Security Tool infection. For additional removal tips, please review the comments below (the Task Manager trick proved to work flawlessly too).

How to remove Security Tool manually:

  • %UserProfile%\Application Data\4946550101
  • %UserProfile%\Application Data\4946550101\4946550101.bat
  • %UserProfile%\Application Data\4946550101\4946550101.cfg
  • %UserProfile%\Application Data\4946550101\4946550101.exe

For those of you who are having difficulties uninstalling Security Tool, we might add the following tips:
    1st Variant:
    1. Once your computer starts, be quick and open up your Task Manager. This should be done within literally seconds after reboot otherwise Security Tool bug will prevent you from that. In case Task Manager window vanishes, just keep trying – it will work eventually.
    2. Among Task Manager processes, locate one that is all digits (e.g. 12365478.exe).
    3. Just right-click this process and terminate it.
    4. Now that Security Tool is not running (temporarily!), stick to our instructions, i.e. download the automatic removal solution above and let it take care of the rogue anti-spyware.

    2nd variant:
    1. Boot into Safe Mode (to enter it, hit F8 repeatedly when your computer is starting up).
    2. In Safe Mode, go to Start and choose Run.
    3. Type ‘msconfig’ (with no speech marks) and hit Enter.
    4. In the GUI that opens up, click on the ‘Startup’ tab.
    5. Among the listed startup entries, you need to locate a numbered one (consisting of 5 or 6 digits). Go ahead and uncheck it.
    6. If you have Security Tool icon on your desktop, right-click it and choose ‘Find target’, which should open up the rogue’s numbered folder. Proceed and delete everything in this directory.
    7. Restart and download the removal tool above. Download, install and launch the remover. Let the removal tool detect and uninstall Security Tool scam.
    8. Bid your farewell to Security Tool :)

Try this, it’s an alternative way to bypass some of the Security Tool trickeries.
    Regards,
    admin

Who in the hell does this to people? It just amazes me that some asshole is so hard up and miserable that they want to make others as miserable as they are. Thank God there are people like those here who are smart enough to out smart the idiots who come up with these rogue programs and help folks like myself out. I will try the above reccommendations today. Wish me Luck!!

i followed the instructions on my daughters computer and got rid of this monster in less than 15 minutes!! the only variation i did was to download the free fix to disk on my computer rather than download to her computer. it ran and installed once i had renamed the 8 digit number something random. i can add too, we had 4 folders in the Application Data Directory that held 4 different copies of the virus, so i had to rename all 4. i was just lucky that i noticed right off the 4 folders instead of one. i am sure my daughter had something to do with getting 4 copies in that folder as she frantically tried to follow the bogus instructions from Security Tool. i tried other sites, but nothing worked until i came here. can’t thank this site and admin enough. thank you.

We tried the fix on my husband’s PC but the file did not show up in the Application folder. Did they change the virus? Is there a new procedure? Help!

  108. 108. admin Says:

    Karen,
Please try the Safe Mode trick (see comment #2).
    Good luck!

  109. 109. Sharna Lee Says:

In comment 2 for step 4 and 5 you’ve written:

    4. In the GUI that opens up, click on the ‘Startup’ tab.
    5. Among the listed startup entries, you need to locate a numbered one (consisting of 5 or 6 digits). Go ahead and uncheck it.

however i don’t have any numbered entries (they all consist of letters or letters with some occassional numbers) any ideas on what to do? thanks

  110. 110. admin Says:

    Sharna,
Is there any item among the startup entries that has an unknown publisher attribute? Or any other suspicious process that normally should not get triggered after Windows startup.
    Thanks

  111. 111. Jamaal Says:

The fastest way to delete to Security Tool is to Restart your computer and very quickly as your destop appears click on Task Manager(ctrl+alt+delete) and go on Processes and you will see a process with a description with numbers e.g 2436581 right click on it and end process, now that Security Tool has been stopped go on START then SEARCH and type Security Tool then make sure you right click on it and select OPEN FILE LOCATION when it has been located make sure you right click on it then delete file also remove it from RECYCLE BIN. After that, you should run the removal tool above to make sure all components of Security Tool get exterminated for good.

  112. 112. Sam Says:

So I did all of the steps but I don’t understand some things. Once I get to the Application Data folder I double click on it, and the first thing that does pop is another folder with tons of random numbers. But the thing is once I click on that folder there is another folder in there that has like, 3 random letters, and inside of THAT folder is like 6 different icons. And it also says in the instructions that “it looks approximately like this 45612378.exe” but the folder with the numbers on my computer has more than 8 digits, and looks nothing like those numbers. I’m very very confused, and I would just like to remove this virus from my computer because we really need it right now. Please help me! I’m begging!

  138. 138. Erie Says:

  139. 139. Momo Says:

when doing the first steps when you look in the C drive and go to Documents and Settings then All Users i couldn’t find Tools. I’m not really ‘in the know’ about this, im only 13…so I just skipped straight to downloading the remover. I hope it works because its installing right now on my laptop. Glad I have 2 computers!

  140. 140. soggy12311 Says:
