Rhi,
Judging from your description of the symptoms you keep having, we are afraid your machine may still be infected with Spyware Guard menace. Slow computer problem and internet usage trouble are typical to Spyware Guard. You should perform an additional system scan to figure out what specific infections you are still having.
Thanks for using Windows Protection!

It seems like on my computer as if the Spyware Guard is completely gone. The scan windows do not pop up and the icon has been removed from the desktop and program files.
However, the symptoms of the virus still remain such as not being able to click links on google ( I found that out right when my computer became infected) and a painstakingly slow computer. Do you think this virus is still lurking?

To Jewel Molthen:
In your case (which is a pretty typical one with Spyware Guard scamware), you may try the following: you should save our remover installation program to a CD (not sure flash drive will work out). Then, you should boot your son's PC in safe mode (by pressing F8 when starting the computer). In safe mode, you should be able to run CD with our tool. There is also an option to install our solution in safe mode. To sum up - your case requires doing some operations in SAFE mode (accessable through F8 when booting).
We hope it'll work out!
Thanks for using Windows Protection!

Our son's computer is infected. He can no longer get on the internet to download any of these programs. We've tried saving them to a flash drive but it won't let him. Any suggestions on what to disable in order to let him run a scan?

Joe,
Some rogue anti-spyware applications come bundled with programs that create backup copies of its malicious files. That's why manual removal is often followed by automatic reanimation of these files. In your particular case, you should probably try automatic removal tools that eliminate malware completely. If it suits you, you can download our automatic remover using the links above. Thanks for your question!

Even if you delete these files, the files just come back. Other websites offer suggestions, but I haven't found a way yet to actually get rid of this thing.

Chymaine,
In order to perform manual removal procedure, you may try searching the infectious files through the Search option provided by Windows. Deletion of these files should help. Thanks for using Windows Protection!
