Winiguard Description:
Winiguard is another fake anti-spyware applicatoin whose primary goal is to trick computer users into purchasing its full version. The penetration is usually implemented via a backdoor trojan that makes it through your system’s firewall. You may also get infected due to some software splits Winiguard may use when infiltrating. As soon as Winiguard finds itself in your system, it will apply the tactics of generating multiple annoying popups that keep on telling you about digital threats your machine has. The cure you are offered for removing these hazards is Winiguard ‘commercial’ utility which is marketed as an anti-spyware solution. What happens next is scaring you more and more into paying around $50 for Winiguard licensed software. Winiguard is also known to affect system functionality and its processing capacity to eventually lead to its slowdown. Winiguard is capable of making your system vulnerable enough for its inability to resist outer threats that may arise. The conclusion is one and only: remove Winiguard once you spot it in your system, otherwise you may face much more severe consequences.

To Steve:
Indeed, Windows Protection offers an absolutely free system scan to detect malware in your PC. However, it’s not bundled with free removal tool – you are right about this. For reliable removal of Winiguard, what you need is to click on the FIX button in the remover’s GUI and then purchase the full version of the product. Thanks for your question!

To Gerald:
Thanks for your comment! Pertaining to your question about manual removal – generally, it should work. But you need to be careful not to erase or modify any important system files – this may cause severe damage. Besides, some malwares are know to have backup applications that can reanimate the removed corrupt files and malicious registry data. Considering the above, you are stronly recommended to use our automatic removal tool. It helps with Winiguard for sure. Besides, if you purchase it, you’ll have a tool to keep your system secure in the future. Thanks again for using Windows Protection!

Julian,
you should try downloading our automatic removal tool on a PC that is not infected, and then copy it to a CD or flash memory. Thus, you should be able to install it on the contaminated machine. The remover works for winiguard termination.
Thanks for your question!

I downloaded the remover but when I try to run the smart update it says error downloading the updates. HELP!!!
I HATE WINIGUARD!
February 25th, 2009 at 1:35 pm
Josh,
Thank you for your comment!
In your particular case (if you still cannot run the smar update), you should try doing it on a different computer which is not contaminated. Then, save the updated tool to a data medium and transfer it to your infected machine. It should work.
Or, you may try doing the updates in safe mode (press F8 when booting up).
Thanks for using Windows Protection, and good luck with Winiguard removal! It’s quite a pest!

Lyndsey,
Thanks for your comment!
As far as we’ve understood, the corrupt files you have removed keep respawning over and over. Well, that’s one of the drawbacks of manual removal of Winiguard scam. To ensure a complete elimination of Winiguard rogue, try the automatic removal tool by following one of the links in our post above.
Thanks.
