XP Police Antivirus Description:
XP Police Antivirus is a new rogue threat that pretends to be a computer protection tool to be used for elimination of PC parasites and other security risks. The essence of XP Police Antivirus tactics consists in trying to make victims think their PCs are contaminated with malware and need to be protected by the antivirus solution. Typically, XP Police Antivirus will start operating each time you boot up and will display fake security alerts resembling Windows Security Center window. The fake notifications displayed by XP Police Antivirus also include “animated” system scans, as well as some bogus positives claiming that your machine is sending your private information to a remote IP address. This whole trickery pursues the objective to brainwash you into buying its registered version and thus provide profit to XP Police Antivirus developers. You need to get rid of XP Police Antivirus ASAP if you care about your PC functionality and your own privacy.

Hi windowsprotection.
Although I removed these files above and register entries manually, I can not open Task Manager when I enter Ctl + Alt + Del. It is hiden. I scaned my computer with Spyware Doctor, it detected fake program XP police but Spyware Doctor seems not registered and did not remove XP police.
Please help me to completely remove XP police.

Ngoc Son,
In order to completely remove XP Police Antivirus, you should install the registered version of Spyware Doctor. It will work out then.
Thanks for your comment!

i have the same problem, i cant run task manager, how did you fix it?
February 13th, 2009 at 10:11 am
Marie,
Thanks for your comment!
Typically, performing the actions you did suffices to get rid of XP Police Antivirus.
In your case, try updating your Spyware Doctor solution to its current latest version. the upgrated databases should enable XP Police Antivirus removal.
Thanks for using Windows Protection!

to reenable the task manager you have to run regedit and change the value of the “DisableTaskMgr” key to “0″, The key can be found here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
If you run XP home edition this is the only way to make the fix because XP Home doesn’t ship with the Group Policy editor!

if you dont have a virus scan program, spyware program or anything like that, will this free download program help prevent other viruses too? or is it just for the XP police antivirus?
February 14th, 2009 at 11:21 pm
how do you delete the corrupted file or where can i find them so i can delete them? can you remove it in the Program Add or Remove process?
February 14th, 2009 at 11:25 pm
how is this rouge anti-spyware getting into the computer? my friend has this problem and we’re not sure how it got on his laptop, how much damage it is doing, or how to get rid of it.
February 15th, 2009 at 5:08 am
Kah,
you or your friend may “caught” XP Police Antivirus unknowingly through a backdoor trojan that infiltrated undetected, or by clicking some disguised links on the web that seemed legitimate. The corrupt files can be spotted using the Windows search option, the “Add/Remove Programs” usually won’t work for XP Police Antivirus removal. The automatic removal tool we are offering is not only effective for eliminating XP Police Antivirus, it’s a universal malware removal utility.
Thanks for your comments!

my previous info was not correct… you have to delete the reg key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\DisableTaskMgr to regain access to it, at least on my system I did.
