I have fixed several computers with this virus. The tool above will work in most cases. The longer the virus is on your computer the worst it gets. When you first see the WPP screen if you go straight to windows restore this will most likely work or it did for me on 2 of the machines. I tried to remove some manually the more I removed the worse it got. I would suggest if the above tool doesn't work and its been more than an hour or so since you've become infected you probably should just save you data and do a format & reinstall. This is the only way to know for sure you get it. Also, try to ask yourself how you got the virus was it something I click on or what? Are you searching safely? I would recommend using McAfee SiteAdvisor if your not sure. Its free and works with most search providers google, yahoo, and so on. Well hope this helped you guys and maybe keeps you from getting something like this again. Good Luck!

My home PC has been infected with a version of this virus. I have completed most of the manual process, deleting the files that are listed above. However, this verison will not allow any .exe files to be executed on my PC. It looks at all exe executables as a file and wants to open them in word or wordpad or another program. I cannot even run Regedit to delete the registry entries. Is there anything that can be done to correct this problem? Is it the registry entries that are causing this issue?
